Stoney Fork is a nice campground! It's actually in a two park activation area, the George/Jefferson National and Bird and Wildlife area . We used the Suburban as our camper this trip,the shelter was in case of rain . No I only used the 891 but I did drag out the 9:1 wire for the antenna.

I made about 25 contacts before we had to leave for the Breaks. I had probably 50 contacts at the Breaks, the xyl wanted to get to her Mom's house so I didn't stay long at either place.

It's going to be a better antenna once I get it tuned

I hate I missed it! I've got a fiberglass mast in the cart from DX, seems the beam I have is only rated for 50w unless you mount it away from metal

I see that their is a different filter assembly that may work, it looks a little more compact.

Narrow band filter,pretty much turns the 817 into the 818. There isn't anything else that I can do to it that's easy,they make a sotabeam board for it but it takes some soldering and you have to clip a transistor.
